Surveys Our survey department covers the entire UK and Ireland. All our surveyors have mobile phones. A surveyor is of course only normally in a position to make recommendations but we believe that a surveyor should have the knowhow to offer solutions to problems. Wherever possible we try to persuade receivers to accept goods, if necessary with an allowance, but we have a large network of national and international salvage buyers to whom we can sell damaged foods.

Criminal Investigation Theft and fraud appear to be ever increasing and criminal investigation is now a substantial part of our activities. We have very good contacts with Scotland Yard and local police forces. Provided we are instructed within a short time of the crime, it is often possible to recover stolen goods on the basis of our recommendations. Immediate detailed investigation is also very important from a recovery point of view. We were only successful in some major CMR recoveries because we were on the scene of the crime within hours of the theft taking statements from witnesses. Therefore it is essential to instruct us promptly.

Claims Settlement We service claim accounts for a number of insurers and their large industrial clients from the initial claim advice via survey and settlement and subrogation recoveries. With the aid of word processors and computers we are able to effect claims settlement efficiently and quickly.

Recovery Over many years contacts with the major P & I Clubs, shipowners, haulage companies, transit liability insurers have been well established. Understanding the contracts of affreightment, the practicalities of the transit are necessary to ensure a successful recovery. We have considerable experience with CMR and we were already dealing with such cases before the Convention was adopted in the UK. Subject to certain conditions we work on a 'no cure no pay' basis.

General Average / Salvage We deal with all aspects including the provision of general average guarantees, investigations into the cause of a casualty examining, the liability to pay the general average contribution. Many salvage services are contracted on Lloyds Open Form (LOF). The prompt provision of salvage guarantees to obtain fast release of cargoes is often required. Our standing in the salvage community ensures that this happens. Analysing the services provided, negotiating the remunerations due to salvors, dealing with arbitrations are all part of the services we provide.

Legal Expense Insurance We represent a number of legal expense Insurers in respect of claims which are subject to UK Law. We examine the cases and take a realistic approach in pursuing them.

Motor Claims We are the official claims agents for a number of continental insurers in accordance with the requirements of the British Motor Insurers Bureau. We deal with all claims arising from motor accidents including personal injury.

Hull Department Our hull department is fully conversant with and experienced with all aspects of hull claims. We can arrange any ship survey, deal with all arrangements covering guarantees, jurisdiction and liability in collision cases and also claims from and against third parties. We have close contacts with major salvage / towage contractors and can arrange towage / salvage and of course deal with any claims arising therefrom including arrangements for security. We are available 24 hours a day.

Product Liability Liability insurers may be well versed in the legal and other aspects of product liability in their own country but not always familiar with conditions abroad. They sometimes assume that conditions in other countries are the same and on this basis can make incorrect decisions. We know the local situations. We know how to get the evidence that may later be of vital importance. To defend successfully a claim early instructions to us are vital.
